Equus Flight Academy has officially taken flight. A group of investors from Kentucky has purchased Air Direct Airways Flight Academy, an FAA 141 flight school based at Boire Field in Nashua, New Hampshire. The journey began with a young lady looking for an opportunity to learn to fly. The ADA flight academy was presented as an investment. It is a way to earn her certificate ratings, understand the business side of aviation and share her passion for the sky with like-minded individuals. With the support of investors and veterans in the aviation industry, her dream became a reality on December 30, 2022. The day-to-day operations will continue as usual. CEO Shannon Weidekamp, a co-owner of the company, will lead Equus Flight Academy. As a member of the Board of Directors of Women in Aviation International, Weidekamp is excited to head the flight school with a strong female presence in ownership and leadership. She will continue her position as Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer for a Part 135 company based in Louisville, Kentucky.

Other leadership roles include President Amy Abbott, Vice President Sydney Abbott and COO/Director of Operations Tim Peace. Equus Flight Academy has hired Kent Allison as General Manager and Ebony Bartee, who will serve as Academy Growth and Development Coordinator. All other staff members and instructors of Air Direct Airways will remain as the transition of new ownership takes place and flight instruction continues.
